To Readers of The Practice
There's a moment in any good practice when the form starts to find you — when you stop deciding what it is and start following where it goes.
That's what happened here.
When I launched Practice Notes alongside The Practice, I imagined two distinct things: longer essays in one place, shorter field notes in the other. But over time, the line between them blurred. Not because the writing got confused — because it got clearer. Practice Notes became the place where the real work was happening: present, frequent, alive. The longer essays started finding their way there too.
So I'm consolidating. One publication, one reader relationship, one place to show up.
The Practice closes here. Practice Notes goes on.
